… AND

… AND (01)

… and when the baby let out its first c.ry, I slowly realize it isn’t the rush of oxygen into it’s little lungs…
… but the slow realization that the slow long journey to death just began.

‘Fikayo

… AND (02)

… and when pain knocks on your door, do not turn her away. Welcome her with open arms, offer a drink and a warm bed…
… because a visitor never leaves without telling you the reason for the visit.

‘Fikayo

… AND (03)

… and there would be no car, just the two of us, hand in hand. Would you take this journey with me? Down this Nigerian road called love. Would you go all the way with me?

‘Fikayo

… AND (04)

… and remember, someday, your love would be tested, rocked at its foundations. On days like that, you will realize that the butterflies (the initial “gish gish”) are not the pillars your love should be built on!

‘Fikayo

… AND (05)

… and it’s okay to cry, it’s okay to let it all out. Your emotions are a part of you, let them play their part. Son, cry if you have to. Remind them that you’re human too!

‘Fikayo

… AND (06)

… and you should not worry about becoming the best at what you do. Your aim should always be, becoming the best at “How” you do what you do!

‘Fikayo

… AND (07)

… and each time they tell you to “remember whose child you are, to remember where you are from”
Also remind yourself “whom you are and where you are going to”

‘Fikayo

… AND (08)

… and tell those humans who love to constantly live on the edge. Sooner or later, they will fall off and wouldn’t find a way back up!

‘Fikayo

… AND (09)

… and to the virgins of the world, when temptation stares you in the face, don’t be too quick to run. Admire its curves and its abs. Know its strengths and weaknesses…
… because someday it will attack, and how would you fight an enemy you know nothing about?

‘Fikayo

… AND (10)

… and when it’s time to search for love on these streets; it is then you would realize that your eyes are not a very reliable source of information!

‘Fikayo

… AND (11)

… and when death comes with the notice to evacuate. Don’t look into his eyes for mercy, don’t remind him of things you haven’t done and people who need you…
… because his job is already hard as it is, don’t make it any more difficult!

‘Fikayo

… AND (12)

… and you should know that, just as Knowledge does not always lead to Wisdom, Experience also does not always lead to Understanding!

‘Fikayo

… AND (13)

… and as music is just a whole lot of noise that is pleasant to the ears, her nagging would sound a whole lot like noise…
… but make sure it sounds pleasurable to your ears!

‘Fikayo

… AND (14)

… and the preacher is not God
… and the preacher is not God
… and the preacher is not God
THE PREACHER IS NOT GOD!

‘Fikayo

… AND (15)

… and I’d dream about you one more time before you leave…
… maybe that way I’d have one good memory of you.

‘Fikayo

… AND (16)

… and I’d cut just a little today, so I’ll forget yesterdays’ pain and tomorrow I’d cut a little more, so I’ll forget today’s pain…
… and someday I’d cut a little too deep, so I’d forget everything. Just so I wouldn’t have to cut anymore!

‘Fikayo

… AND (17)

… and learn how to run for cover as fast as you can…
… because these boys are trigger happy, their gun resides in between their legs!

‘Fikayo

… AND (18)

… and these beautiful lies we tell to survive would eventually be the end of us…
… these lies may be the ones to take our lives!

‘Fikayo

… AND (19)

… and when distance steps into the picture, expect to do double, expect to go over the top, know that you have got work laid out for you…
… because the heart rarely believes what the eyes cannot see!

‘Fikayo

… AND (20)

… and remember, do not give yourself entirely to hope. Let doubt dance around the corner of your heart…
… that way you can stay safe and save yourself from unnecessary disappointment!
